Party update drops Oct 27 — festival starts Oct 30
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is hitting a decade, and Bandai Namco is celebrating with a free update landing tomorrow (October 27) and a bigger in-game festival kicking off October 30. The game’s creator Dimps and the publisher clearly haven’t forgotten about their long-running time-traveling brawl simulator — they’re rolling out login freebies, themed outfits, and a handful of fresh content for players to mess around with.
There’s also a new trailer out showing off the anniversary bits, so if you like seeing your favorite punches in glorious slow motion, you’ll get a peek at what’s coming.
What’s actually new — and why you should care
The meat of the celebration is the Final Festival of the Universes starting October 30. For the event’s duration you’ll earn Star Coins at a huge multiplier — the developers say you’ll get 25 times the usual amount — which makes snatching up previously rare items way less of a slog. If you missed a costume or collectible back in the day, this is the chance to reclaim it.
Besides easier farming, the event ups camaraderie gains with characters like Trunks, the Kaioshin of Time, and Fu so you can unlock special character illustrations faster. There’s also new content in the Time Gallery, but note you’ll need the Future Saga Chapter 4 DLC to access that specific chunk.
The update adds two cheeky cross-game incentives: a special anniversary battle uniform and a commemorative medal. Holding one of those items will trigger bonus rewards in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 — the sequel that’s slated for 2027. To redeem those future goodies you’ll need to link your Bandai Namco ID once the new game launches. Exactly what the Xenoverse 3 unlocks will contain hasn’t been spelled out yet, so consider that part confirmed but vague for now.
Bottom line: this patch makes grinding less grindy, hands out nostalgia bait, and teases long-term perks for folks who stick with the series into the next generation.
Developer note: Xenoverse 2 launched in October 2016 and has been steadily patched by Dimps and Bandai Namco ever since — this anniversary update is another reminder that the game’s still very much alive thanks to a loyal player base.
So, if you’re still booting up your Time Patroller now and then: log in, snag the freebies, and flex that uniform into whatever comes next in 2027.
