The surprise cross-buy you didn’t know you needed
Ubisoft and Microsoft quietly expanded their partnership so folks who own certain Ubisoft titles on Xbox can get the PC versions as well — at no extra cost. The program, called “Xbox Console-to-PC,” starts with 13 games and is rolling out now, with owned titles gradually appearing in your Ubisoft Connect library through August 4.
The eligible games include Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs Legion. If you bought any of those on Xbox digital storefront, check Ubisoft Connect — the PC editions should show up once your account syncs.
How it works, the fine print, and why you should care
To claim the PC copies you’ll need the latest Ubisoft Connect app installed and linked to the same account. Most purchases carry over the same edition and associated DLC or season passes you owned on console. Don’t expect one-use items like virtual currency or consumables to magically teleport over — those usually don’t transfer.
If a game supports cross-progression, your saves and earned content should follow you from Xbox to PC. Ubisoft advises checking each game’s page in Ubisoft Connect to confirm exactly which edition and add-ons are attached to your account.
Heads up: this only goes one way. Buying the PC version won’t grant you an Xbox copy — the promotion works console-to-PC only, not retroactively or bidirectionally.
Oh, and one more thing: the Xbox app for PC has also been updated with some new premium editions and extras for a handful of Ubisoft titles (think Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Rainbow Six Siege, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia). In short: if you’ve been buying on Xbox but prefer gaming on PC, this is a nice little surprise — and an excuse to dust off that Ubisoft Connect launcher.
