Surprise PC drop and why you should care
Ubisoft quietly put The Division Resurgence on PC for free, and yes — it wasn’t loudly advertised. What started as a mobile-only spin on The Division has been tucked into Ubisoft Connect as an early access build for testing before a full launch later this year.
It’s basically Ubisoft listening to complaints: lots of players begged for a PC option, and now you can jump in, keep your progress across devices, and squad up with friends no matter whether they’re on iPhone, Android, or PC (so long as you share the same region).
Heads up: the PC client itself is small-ish on disk (about a 17 GB download), but Ubisoft recommends leaving around 30 GB free and using an SSD for smoother runs. Also, if you played on mobile as a guest, link your progress to a Ubisoft Connect account before switching — or you might lose your loot.
What it runs on and what’s coming
Performance-wise the game scales from modest to beefy. If you’re aiming for 1080p on low settings expect roughly a 30 FPS target and a very light CPU/GPU mix — even integrated graphics are listed for the bare minimum. Pushing to 1080p at higher settings targets 60 FPS and needs a modern entry-level discrete card like a GTX 1650 or similar.
Want 2K or 4K? You’ll need mid-range to upper-mid GPUs and a solid CPU to keep things smooth at 60 FPS with higher presets. Across all targets, Windows 11 and 8 GB of RAM are the baseline, and Ubisoft says an SSD is required for the best experience.
The game supports keyboard/mouse and controllers, is fully cross-play with mobile (account-linked), and is being used as a tech test — expect bugs, tweaks, and balance changes while it’s in this state.
On the content side Ubisoft has a roadmap: Season 1 continues with new limited-time events and cosmetics starting May 12, a mid-season Phase 3 drop in June, and wider platform releases plus the PC final launch during Season 2. Season 3 (planned for winter) promises a larger story expansion focused on the characters and factions already in the game.
So if you like looting-and-shooting with friends and don’t mind early access wobbliness, this is a pretty low-friction way to jump back into The Division’s universe — for free.
