Launch details you need to know
After a bumpy development road and a handful of delays, Unknown Worlds has set a date: Subnautica 2 hits Early Access on May 14. The game will be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S and carries a €29.99 price tag.
The studio says it’s eager to get the game into players’ hands and expects Early Access to be a two-way street — you play it, you shout about bugs and ideas, and the team tweaks the experience as it goes.
What’s actually in the water?
A new cinematic trailer teases the mood: eerie alien oceans, tense encounters, and some snazzy new toys. Expect fresh vehicles, handy tools, and at least one creature designed to ruin your day (in the best survival-game way).
Why this matters: the original Subnautica hooked millions with its mix of exploration and panic, and the franchise has sold over 18.5 million copies. Subnautica 2 spent months topping Steam wishlists, so the community is hyped — and will likely be vocal during Early Access, which means player feedback could shape the final game.
Bottom line: if you love underwater tension, crafting clever gadgets, and being jump-scared by alien fauna, mark May 14 on your calendar. Early Access status means things will change, but it also means you get to help steer the ship (or submarine).
