Paralives Early Access Lands May 25 at $39.99 — No Paid DLC, All Future Content Free

Quick rundown: price, date, and the no-DLC promise

Paralives hits Steam Early Access on May 25 for PC and Mac, and the studio has set the launch price at $39.99. Expect that number to climb after Early Access — but the team is making a bold claim: there won’t be paid DLC. Instead, new content will be delivered as free expansions.

There’s no pre-order; you can add it to your wishlist now. The game will be single-player and playable offline. Consoles and mobile aren’t on the roadmap at the moment.

What’s in the box at Day One (and the tools that matter)

The Early Access build includes Paralives’ three core pillars from the jump: the life-sim play mode, the building toolkit, and the Paramaker character editor. That means an open city to wander, careers and progression, relationship systems, aging and family mechanics, and a bunch of everyday systems like needs, emotions, jobs, shops and group activities.

On the building side you get a robust set of options: a full color wheel for tweaking everything, freely rotatable curved walls, optional grid placement, multi-level platforms and floors, movable walls, object resizing, stairs, roofs and fences. It feels like the devs prioritized creative freedom over rigid limitations.

Paramaker lets you sculpt characters with sliders for height, body and facial features, layer and mix clothing, add tattoos, create asymmetrical details (think mismatched eyes or socks), and even tinker with a genetics system for offspring.

Paralives will launch with translations for several languages (including Latin American Spanish, French, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Italian and Polish) and Steam Workshop support for sharing player-made creations and custom content. The studio says script mods aren’t planned right now, though asset and cosmetic mods will be supported.

As a heads-up: the euro price hasn’t been announced yet.

Roadmap highlights and why this matters for players

The devs already listed a bunch of features planned during Early Access: weather and seasons, a calendar and family tree, pets (dogs, cats and horses), vehicles like cars and boats, swimming, NPC story progression, gardening, fishing, social events such as parties and weddings, tools to edit cities, pools, basements, and more furniture, clothes and hairstyles. Expect new emotions, wishes, jobs and personality options too.

For players this is big: a committed ‘no paid DLC’ stance plus free expansions is a welcome alternative to microtransaction-driven live-service games. Add Steam Workshop support and a strong creation toolkit, and Paralives could build a lively, long-lived community of creators.

That said, Early Access means features will evolve. The price might rise later, and some systems will arrive over time. If you love building, modding cosmetic stuff and a Sims-like sandbox without online trappings, Paralives looks worth keeping an eye on.
