Cyber Cycles Hits Consoles: 4‑Player Arcade Motorcycle Mayhem on Aug 20

Release details and what’s included

Hamster Corporation is bringing Namco’s 1995 arcade racer Cyber Cycles to modern consoles via Arcade Archives. The new Arcade Archives 2 CYBER CYCLES edition launches on August 20 for €16.99 on PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2. A separate Arcade Archives release for PS4 and Nintendo Switch will arrive the same day for €14.99.

The original ran on Namco’s System 22 hardware and famously supported up to four players by linking cabinets. Hamster preserved that multiplayer feel: the reissue offers split‑screen for two or four players, emulating the arcade setup. Note that some features differ from the modern arcade options — save/load, rewind, and a few visual elements are handled differently than in other ports.

Gameplay, modern tweaks, and why it matters

Cyber Cycles sticks to its retro roots: futuristic bike cockpit, handful of distinct machines with different stats, and fast, chaotic racing. The big draw is local multiplayer — couch‑side split‑screen for up to four means this is perfect for party nights or reviving arcade rivalries with friends.

Modern conveniences are included to make it playable today: button remapping, rapid‑fire, visual filters, alternate scoring modes, and the usual Arcade Archives quality‑of‑life options. Arcade Archives 2 also tacks on a time trial mode for speed runners and adds support for VRR displays to smooth out visuals on compatible screens.

Why you should care: console ports of obscure arcade-only racers don’t show up every day. This release fills a gap for retro fans, preserves a quirky cabinet experience (yes, the motorcycle cockpit was a thing), and gives both newcomers and veterans an easy way to race locally. Expect nostalgia trips, heated four‑player matches, and a nice little addition to anyone’s retro collection.
