Pearl Abyss is considering official mod tools — but don’t call it a yes
A recent INVEN report says Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-young told shareholders the studio has discussed the idea of supplying official modding tools for Crimson Desert, but nothing is locked in yet.
The sticking point? Making those tools public would likely require exposing substantial parts of the game engine, which raises technical, security, and support headaches. So the team is still weighing pros and cons while watching how players actually use the game.
What this means for players (and why it matters)
Mods can breathe years of life into an RPG — from new quests and balance tweaks to outright chaos creations — so the community is understandably excited. Crimson Desert’s strong launch (over 4 million copies across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S within a couple weeks) gives any future mod scene a healthy starting crowd.
