What’s changing and when
EA is pulling Battlefield Hardline (the 2015 police-versus-crims spin on the series) off the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital stores on May 22. That delisting includes the base game and any DLC sold through those storefronts.
Then, on June 22, online services for the PS4 and Xbox One versions will go dark. If you already own the console copy you can still play the single-player campaign, but multiplayer on those consoles will stop functioning after the shutdown date.
Why gamers should care
This isn’t a PC-wide shutdown — EA says the PC edition stays on sale and its online services will keep running. So if you like Hardline’s cops-and-robbers twist on Battlefield, your safest bet for ongoing online play is the PC version.
Hardline was a notable departure when it launched in 2015, swapping boots-on-the-ground military combat for heists, SWAT-style tactics and player-versus-player cat-and-mouse firefights. It shifted enough of the series’ tone to be memorable — and it moved a lot of copies over the years, reportedly selling millions.
For console players this is part of a broader pattern: publishers gradually wind down support for older-gen releases as they concentrate on newer hardware and live services. Some fans are sad, some unsurprised, and a few are dusting off single-player saves one last time. If you’ve been meaning to replay Hardline’s campaign or snag its DLC, act fast — or jump to PC if you want to keep playing online.
